Fire destroys abandoned Anderson, S.C. building

Firefighters in Anderson County were called to the scene of a former commercial building late Monday night on River Street.Crews were on the scene late into the night as they tried to knock down the flames at the abandoned building. Capt. Jamie Barnell from the Anderson City Fire Department said when crews assessed the situation, they decided to not go inside the building because they didn’t know if it was safe. That turned out to be a good decision because Barnell said shortly after, the roof collapsed.
