Florida Highway Patrol trooper injured while escorting colleague’s body

A Florida Highway Patrol motorcycle trooper was struck and injured by a car in Central Florida while assisting in transporting the body of a trooper who was hit and killed over the weekend. Trooper Kevin Brown, 45, of Orlando, was hurt around noon Monday near the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 and Lemon Street in Lake County, FHP spokeswoman Kim Montes said. The FHP said Mamdouh Zeini, 66, of Lady Lake, was driving a Mercedes eastbound on Lemon Street and failed to stop, even though a trooper was in the middle of the intersection allowing a procession to go through.
