N.J. woman accused of scamming insurance company out of $12,000

A Blairstown Township woman reaped more than $12,000 in illegal insurance payments by submitting false information about her automobile coverage after an accident, according to authorities. A state grand jury today indicted Catherine Maclean, 53, of the 100 block of Route 94, on charges of insurance fraud, theft and falsifying or tampering with records, New Jersey’s acting Attorney General John Hoffman announced. The insurance fraud charge, a second-degree crime, carries a possibility of 10 years in state prison.
