San Diego hit-and-run driver sends one to hospital

A hit-and-run driver ditched his vehicle early Thursday and escaped after a foot chase prompted by a crash on Interstate 805 that left another person injured, authorities said. The driver of a Ford Mustang crashed into an Infinity sedan that was stopped on the side of the southbound lanes north of Interstate 15 about 12:15 a.m. then fled, according to the California Highway Patrol. An officer chased the suspect, who ran east across the interstate’s northbound lanes, then into a nearby wooded area, but he got away, CHP officials said. His wrecked car was left behind.
