Arthur becomes a hurricane as storm chugs toward NC coast

 Thursday, July 3, 2014

 Raleigh News & Observer

Gusty winds, coastal flooding, rip currents and heavy rain are expected as Hurricane Arthur passes the North Carolina shore Thursday evening and Friday morning. The National Hurricane Center in Miami extended a hurricane warning from border to border Thursday morning. All of the coast is in the storm’s path. The weather will hit hardest overnight Thursday, but forecasters say Arthur will leave a salvageable Fourth of July weekend for hundreds of thousands of beach-bound visitors.
