Hailstorm damage in Abilene is expected to hit $400 million after a June storm caused major damage to homes, businesses and vehicles. Mark Hanna of The Insurance Council of Texas says the catastrophic June 12th hailstorm was the second to strike Abilene since 2011. Baseball-sized hail pummeled downtown Abilene and areas north of the city, where commercial buildings sustained damage to their roofs, windows and structures. Hardin Simmons University officials found windows knocked out, while Abilene Christian University experienced widespread roof damage.
