The investigation into what caused a truck to careen into the Sturgeon Pool on Saturday is continuing, said state police in Highland. “The driver failed to negotiate a curve on Route 213, which sent the truck down an embankment and into Sturgeon Pool,” Rifton fire Chief Steve Peterson said. First responders rushed to the scene shortly after 1 p.m. to find the driver had managed to free himself and swim to shore. He was taken to Kingston Hospital by Esopus Ambulance, assisted by Mobile Life, Peterson said. The vehicle lay submerged about a dozen feet below the surface.
