A mountain downpour sent water, mud and debris rushing from the hills into parts of Helper and Spring Glen in east-central Utah and when the deluge was over, the Carbon County Sheriffs Office said more than 70 homes had been impacted. "We had water coming over a bridge like a geyser," said Helper Mayor Ed Chavez.
Video shot by Steve Maxfield in the darkness overnight Monday showed water flowing on what appeared to be a city street. In the light of day Tuesday, it was clear mud had caked part of Helpers Main Street and burst into basements.
