Heavy rain blew through Phoenix, Arizona, Tuesday morning, leading to flash floods and prompting multiple rescues of motorists trapped in vehicles by high water, NBC affiliate KPNX reported. The National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning for much of the metro area and said up to 2 inches of rain fell in some locations in about an hour Tuesday morning. The storm knocked out electric power to nearly 3,000 homes in the region, officials said. Phoenix Fire Capt. Benjamin Santillan told The Associated Press firefighters from Phoenix and the Daisy Mountain Fire District on Phoenix’s northern outskirts rescued at least six motorists in separate incidents, but no injuries were reported. Many of the rescues occurred in places where roads go through dips that were flooded, Santillan said.
