Cyberattack Risks Increasing for Maritime Sector

he International Maritime Bureau said the threat of cyberattacks in the maritime sector has intensified in the past few months, as shipping and supply chains become the “next playground for hackers.” Cyber-security experts and media are warning of the dangers posed by criminals targeting carriers, ports, terminals and other transportation operators, IMB said. They argue that while IT systems have become more sophisticated, thus enabling companies to better protect themselves against fraud and theft, it has also left them more vulnerable to cyber criminals.
