A Valparaiso woman will plead guilty to her role in an automobile insurance fraud ring that was run out of Michigan City, according to plea agreement. According to the agreement, filed last week in the U.S. District Court in Hammond, Roberta Butler, 31, will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, a charge that comes with up to five years in prison. Butler admits in the deal that she started taking part in the conspiracy in December 2005.
