Deadly Infections Prompt Negligence, Wrongful Death Lawsuits

WYFF News 4 has learned that lawsuits were filed Thursday against Greenville Health System on behalf of a man who is suffering with a rare infection called Mycobacterium abscessus, and on behalf of two other people who died with the infection. Thomas Fowler had triple bypass surgery at Greenville Health System on April 2 and he said he appeared to be healing appropriately at a follow-up visit in May. Shortly after, Fowler said he began to experience extreme pain in the incision site, and he was re-admitted to GHS on June 9.
