Traffic on I-17 was directed off the freeway after a fatal vehicle fire during the morning commute Wednesday.
A semi truck was driving northbound on I-17 when it lost its load over the divider and onto the other side of the freeway. Vehicles swerved to get away from the semi and items, but one vehicle flipped over and another vehicle caught on fire after rolling over. Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves says the driver of the vehicle on fire died. Another person was cut out of the flipped over vehicle and is in serious condition.
