67 Accidents Prior To Rhode Island's Midnight Travel Ban

What should have been a quiet night for Rhode Island State Police, turned out to be a busy one, as dozens of cars were towed overnight. Gov. Gina Raimondo declared a state of emergency for Rhode Island, and urged all residents to be off the roads starting at 8 p.m. A “strictly enforced” travel ban was put into place at midnight. Colonel Steven O’Donnell said state and local police had already responded to 67 accidents before the ban was put in place. However, no serious injuries were reported. Forty disabled vehicles were towed, as well.
