Indiana Driver Pulled From Floodwaters

Firefighters in Floyd County used a cell phone to stay in touch with a man trapped in his vehicle as water rose to the roof of his vehicle. According to Ryan Houchins with the Lafayette Township Fire Protection District, they were called around 4:45 a.m. to assist New Chapel Fire Co. with a water rescue on 7 Mile Ln. That’s where an unidentified man drove through the flooded roadway and called 911 around 4:45 AM. Dispatchers at the Floyd County Dispatch Center maintained contact with the victim by cell phone and were able to relay information to responders that the water was coming into the vehicle and was at the height of the steering wheel.
