Uber Leaves Kansas Over Insurance Requirements

Uber, a company that lets people arrange rides with private drivers through an app, has ceased operations in Kansas.
In a statement, the company says it’s leaving the state because Senate Bill 117 will become law. The bill creating a regulatory framework for ride-sharing companies was vetoed by Gov. Sam Brownback, but the Topeka Capital-Journal reports the Kansas Legislature voted Tuesday to override the veto. A two-thirds majority is required to override a veto. The Senate voted 34-5 to override, and the House voted 96-25.
