Runaway Tractor Trailer Slams Into Family’s Pickup

A runaway tractor trailer is being blamed for a wreck that killed a mother and injured her husband as well as two children in Bartow County. The semi, loaded with cleaning solvents and other toxic materials, slammed into a pickup truck carrying a family of four on Highway 41 in Emerson. Police said there was no one driving the big rig at the time of the wreck Thursday night. According to police, the driver, identified as 52-year-old Ivan Delgado, was apparently performing a safety check in the parking lot and forgot to set the brakes.
