A Garvin County sheriff deputy’s vehicle was nearly swallowed by a swarm of bees from an overturned rig Tuesday afternoon. Deputy Carl Zink suffered only one bee sting during the incident, Sheriff Larry Rhodes said. About 12:45 p.m., Zink was responding to a call of the overturned tractor-trailer in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 near Pauls Valley when the bees swarmed his sport utility vehicle, Rhodes said. Zink was controlling traffic when bees covered the windshield and windows of the vehicle, and he had to wait to drive away.
