Congressional leaders on Tuesday touted a sweeping, bipartisan budget agreement that would help avert any government shutdowns or defaults until after the next presidential election. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, who is stepping down soon, made clear his desire to “clean out the barn” for his successor.“The agreement isn’t perfect by any means,” but the alternative was a debt limit increase without any entitlement reform or money for troops, Boehner told reporters. “So this is a good deal.”
