At least two tornadoes hit Mississippi during storms Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service in Jackson says on its Twitter account that survey teams estimate that a storm north of Morton, in Scott County, had top winds of 109 mph and was on the ground for nearly 9 miles. It damaged a number of structures. The Weather Service also says surveyors found evidence of a twister near Edwards in Hinds County. Estimated top winds of 100 mph uprooted numerous trees along a 2-mile path.
