Pinal County sheriff’s officials confirmed Tuesday that three people were aboard a medical helicopter that crashed near the Gila County line in the Superstition Mountains. Wednesday morning, they reported two have died and a third was flown to the Maricopa Medical Center’s trauma center. The third patient was able to signal searchers with a flashlight during the search for the crash site, Sheriff Paul Babeu told reporters during and early-morning media briefing Wednesday. That patient is in critical condition.
