Dogs Awaken Family When Home Catches Fire

Two barking dogs woke up a family of three and alerted them to a fire that destroyed their home early Wednesday morning in Douglas County. The house in the 6500 block of Winged Foot Court caught fire about 5:15 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the home.The fire began in the dining room when the family dogs began barking, waking the family. The flames quickly spread and engulfed the home. All three people and the two dogs were able to get out and were not injured.
