Fire crews in Newport were called to the scene of a fire on Bellevue Avenue Thursday evening. According to the Newport Fire Department, the fire broke out in a home in the area of 479 Bellevue Avenue around 4:30. The home is reportedly worth more than $3 million. According to officials, when crews arrived on the scene, flames were shooting 50 to 60 feet into the air. Officials said strong winds complicated the fire because strong winds were blowing the embers around. “A lot of embers blowing on the other house,” said Capt. Stephen Knapman of the Newport Fire Department.
