A seat belt defect has triggered a new recall of more than 1 million General Motors pickup trucks. GM said Friday that it would issue a recall for 2014 and 2015 model-year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. The recall covers more than a year’s worth of volume of GM’s most popular vehicle, the Silverado, and its sister truck. In the U.S., the recall covers 895,232 units. GM said it was not aware of any crashes, injuries or deaths connected to the defect, which it discovered by sifting through warranty data.
