Crews battled a massive structure fire near the Loop 101 and Tatum Boulevard in Phoenix early Tuesday morning. The second-alarm fire started around 3:30 a.m. at a hotel under construction behind a Holiday Inn Express. Eighty firefighters responded to the blaze. The glow of the fire could be seen for miles. "I thought it was just a false alarm so when I actually came down onto the street and saw this big inferno next to me, it was very, very scary because it was a huge fire," evacuated guest Kirit Patel said. It took crews about two hours to put out the fire, but some debris was still smoldering and there were several pop-up fires in the nearby brush.
