Since Historic Flooding, Almost Half Of Louisiana NFIP Claims Settled

Louisiana flood victims have received over one billion dollars in flood insurance payments in less than three months after the historic flooding. Wayne Berggren with the National Flood Insurance Program says they’ve seen over 29,000 claims submitted for review and payment and of that 48% have been closed out. “We’ve been trying to get the money back into the community as fast as we can and it’s every day, more money is getting out to the homeowners who have flood insurance.” Berggren says the average payment a homeowner covered under the National Flood Insurance Program is about 68,000.
