A woman died in a fire that ravaged a home on Fiddlers Run, despite the desperate efforts of a man who tried to rush back into the burning house to save her, police said. Tax records say the property is owned by Mark Petrick and Ellen Tanner Petrick. When the large, two-story house caught fire, the man escaped out into the backyard, but the woman was not able to make it out, said Ralph Stocco, spokesman for the Toms River Police Department.
