Pennsylvania House Panel OKs Workers Comp/Opioid Bill

Hurt on the job, you and your doctor may have to pause before figuring out what prescription would be best if a controversial bill becomes law. House Bill 18, approved by a legislative panel Tuesday, aims to address the over-prescription of opioids and other drugs. It would create a state-sanctioned list, or "formulary," of opioids and other drugs for injured employees receiving medical care and financial assistance for lost wages under the Workers Compensation Act of 1915. The bill, introduced by Rep. Ryan Mackenzie, R-Lehigh, passed the House Labor & Industry Committee in a 14-12 vote.
