A Cecil Township man was arraigned Thursday on charges filed by a special agent with the state attorney generals office for allegedly making a false insurance claim last August. Jason Walker Rubin, 35, of 1400 Main St., was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of insurance fraud and theft by deception. An investigator with Nationwide Insurance contacted the attorney generals office after Rubin made a claim that a power surge at his apartment damaged 16 items of electronic equipment, doing $9,471 in damage. Rubin reportedly discarded the items before an inspection could be done by the insurance company.
