High winds from Tropical Storm Emily blew part of the roof off a Fort Myers Beach resort on Monday. It happened at about 4:30 a.m. at the Outrigger Beach Resort on Estero Boulevard. Maintenance workers said a portion of the roof flew off one building and landed on another building. “I could hear the storm. The thunder and the lightning but then I heard a loud boom crash and that was apparently the crash. What I apparently thought was thunder but now seeing what it was not thunder,” said hotel guest Jonathan Bacon. “I’m kinda trapped here. I can’t leave. I’m checking out this morning and Im kind of stuck here for a while.” Fortunately, nobody was injured.
