Florida was spared the worst of Hurricane Irma. And as homeowners continue to file insurance claims, its becoming clear just how glancing the blow was for most of the state. As of Wednesday morning, Citizens Property Insurance Corp. had received 45,681 claims. On a Wednesday morning conference call with board members, board chairman Chris Gardner said the state-run insurer of last resort now anticipates a total of about 70,000 claims over the next 18 to 24 months.
