Tanker Transporting Flammables In St. Peters, Missouri Explodes Into Flames

A tanker-truck transporting ethanol burst into flames early Monday in St. Peters after crashing near Mid Rivers Mall. The driver escaped with moderate injuries, police say. The 2014 Freightliner Cascadia hit a guardrail about 4 a.m. Monday while heading east on Veterans Memorial Parkway, east of Mid Rivers Mall Drive, the Missouri Highway Patrol said. The impact caused the truck and the highly flammable ethanol inside to catch fire, according to Central County Fire & Rescue. The driver of the truck, Thomas P. Artwein, had moderate injuries, the patrol said.
