Studies have found insurance companies to be among the most despised service industries, but few customers resort to making physical threats against a provider. Charles Everett Jones, 51, of Takoma Park, however, is accused of doing just that. Jones is now facing one count of threatening arson, a misdemeanor in Maryland. On the afternoon of December 14, Jones entered the Erie Insurance offices along Tech Road in Silver Spring amid an ongoing claims dispute. “Jones stated that this building would be on the news in the near future because Jones planned to return to the building and set the building on fire, which would kill everyone inside,” investigators noted in court records obtained by ABC7.
