National Weather Service Confirms 3 EF-1 Tornadoes Hit Northwest Louisiana

The National Weather Service released a survey after severe weather moved through Saturday morning and caused damage in northern Caddo, Bossier and Webster parishes. Three EF-1 tornadoes were confirmed with one in each parish. The first tornado started two miles northwest of Vivian, LA, and traveled 8.49 miles before ending three miles east of Mira, LA. About 40 people took shelter in the freezer at a gas station near Mira as the tornado passed just to the south, the Weather Service reports. That tornado damaged a metal roof and snapped and/or uprooted multiple trees. Winds were estimated around 100 mph, giving the tornado an EF-1 rating.
