The number of tornadoes that hit Alabama on Thursday has climbed to 15. The National Weather Service spent a second day on Saturday traveling to storm-affected areas and assessing the damage. A string of supercell storms rolled across the state on Thursday, with multiple areas in north and central Alabama reporting damage. The weather service said four or more tornadoes were generated by just two of those supercells. The weather service office in Birmingham has said there were a total 14 areas that surveyors wanted to assess from Thursdays event. The weather service in Huntsville also surveyed two areas on Friday.
