Ford Issues Safety Recall On 249,000 Fiesta, Fusion And Lincoln Models

 Friday, March 27, 2020

 Consumer Reports

Ford is recalling 248,912 cars from the 2014 to 2016 model years because door latches have been found to be susceptible to cracking and failure in warm regions.

The risk is that the door might not close properly, even after multiple attempts, and that it may open while the car is being driven.

A Ford spokeswoman confirmed to Consumer Reports that this risk involves all four doors.

The recall is focused on the 2014 and 2015 Ford Fiesta, 2014 to 2016 Ford Fusion, and 2014 to 2016 Lincoln MKZ cars that are or have been previously registered in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington, and federal territories.

Ford is not aware of any reports of crashes or injuries related to this condition. The automaker will notify customers of the recall starting May 4, 2020.
