Many roads were washed out and trees were down blocking roads in Granville, Nash and Vance counties on Wednesday, making for hazardous driving conditions.
Rocky Mount officials said Wednesday evening at least nine people were rescued from their home because of flooding around their house.
The heaviest rainfall and flooding was concentrated Wednesday in the north and east quadrant of North Carolina, with showers continuing into the evening.
Showers were expected to end later Wednesday evening, giving us a couple of days of dry weather before more rain is expected for the weekend. Thursday has a 30 to 40% chance for showers.
On Thursday, there is a chance for more flooding along the Tar River, its tributaries and in Rocky Mount.
