Two more property-casualty insurers-- XL Capital Ltd. in Hamilton, Bermuda, and New York-based American International Group are estimating hundreds of millions of dollars in losses for their companies as a result of the World Trade Center tragedy and related events.

The larger of the two estimates, from XL Capital, put claims in the $600-$700 million range, net of reinsurance, based on initial loss reports and estimates.

Separately, AIG announced a preliminary net pretax loss estimate of roughly $500 million expected from Tuesday's terrorist attacks, based on information currently available.
