Using Internet-delivered applications and services, a Massachusetts company said it is ready to revamp the insurance claims industry.

ClaimPlace, a Wilmington, Mass.-based startup that debuted on Oct. 2, announced it would offer property-casualty carriers an a-la-carte selection of "best of breed" tools, services and vendors that would help reduce claims processing expenses and losses.

The goal, says ClaimPlace President and Chief Executive Ellen S. Wilcox, is to enable carriers to manage the claims function via the Internet.

The Web-based service (www.claimplace.com) will use an IBM-based infrastructure of e-commerce technologies to manage internal and external claims transactions, the company said.
