Victoria Pierro was asleep on the second floor of her familys home early Tuesday morning when the fan that soothes the 6-year-old suddenly shut off, rousing her from her bed. She headed downstairs around 4:45 a.m., stirring her sleeping mother, Lori. The innocent gesture of a child waking a parent in the wee hours proved to be anything but routine, and was credited with saving her family from a two-alarm fire. When Lori Pierro awoke, a fire that officials believe started in a detached garage was spreading quickly to the family home on Humphrey Street.
