
Even as Pvt. Juan Espinosa waits to ship out to Afghanistan, he is waging another war over his crumbling home. The foundation is cracked, as are the walls. Water leaks through a window. And though an engineer blames a sinkhole, Espinosas insurer contends the damage is not structural and refuses to pay. "They expect our house to fall into the hole first before they will fix it," Espinosa, in uniform, testified last month before a Senate insurance committee.
