A crane had to be brought in to remove an SUV that went off the Mass Pike and into the Quaboag River in Palmer Monday morning. According to Massachusetts State Police Media Relations, troopers went into the icy waters of the river to assist the driver, a 42 year-old woman from Palmer. Despite the steep drop from the highway to the river below, the driver suffered only minor injuries, and was taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield to be treated for exposure to the cold.
