You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.
* WHAT...Localized flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Texas, including
the following areas, in south central Texas, Coastal Jackson and
Inland Jackson. In southeast Texas, Bolivar Peninsula, Brazoria
Islands, Chambers, Coastal Brazoria, Coastal Galveston, Coastal
Matagorda, Galveston Island, Inland Brazoria, Inland Galveston,
Inland Matagorda and Matagorda Islands.
* WHEN...Through Friday morning.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Tidal levels
elevated above their astronomical norms may also contribute by
slowing drainage of runoff.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Disturbed weather from a developing coastal trough will
produce showers and isolated thunderstorms over the next
couple of days. The best potential for stronger rains will be
near the Gulf coast, which is an area that has seen
consistent rainfall over the past week. A combination of
locally heavy rain, saturated soils, and slowed drainage from
elevated tidal levels will create an environment supportive
of localized flooding, mainly in urban and poor drainage
locations.
