The State Filings Manager is responsible for the direct management and oversight of a team working on the day-to-day activities related to rate, rule, and form filings with all relevant state insurance departments and bureaus and subsequent implementation in GUARD's proprietary systems. Additional responsibilities may include tracking industry changes and monitoring regulatory issues for compliance.

Responsibilities

Leadership of the State Filings team includes making staffing decisions and completing performance evaluations, as well as mentoring, coaching, and training employees. It also includes working with management to ensure that decisions are made, documented, properly filed and implemented by required deadlines. Success is achieved through development of project timelines, creating efficient processes, effective prioritization & organization, writing policies & procedures, monitoring team workloads, and communicating detailed reports. The State Filings Manager will report directly to the Assistant Vice President of Regulatory Compliance & State Filings and will be immersed in many high-level discussions covering all aspects of the State Filings domain. The selected candidate will be expected to effectively collaborate and coordinate with other Departments at the organization to drive key projects to completion. While being the leader of the team, the Manager should also have the vision to drive the team into the future and evolve with the ever-changing insurance landscape.

Specific duties of the team for which the candidate will have responsibility managing and assisting with projects include: researching, analyzing, and advising management on product compliance with state insurance laws; drafting, creating, and revising product documents such as contracts, forms, policies, manuals and endorsements; preparation and development of filings for forms, rates and rules with various state insurance departments; handling responses to objections through communication with insurance departments; notifying appropriate entities of form changes and other compliance matters; submitting requests for changes to filed rates, rules, and forms in GUARD's proprietary system along with other activities as may be assigned.

Qualifications

All applicants should have at least five years of insurance experience and have had prior leadership experience, including the ability to use sound judgement to make decisions while motivating, directing, and influencing in a team environment. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word. Attention to detail and accuracy is a must, as is a sense of organization and prioritization. All candidates should be strong in math and have the flexibility to work on multiple projects with the ability to meet tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to work with many people across different teams.

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. All applicants with experience in property and casualty insurance (including compliance and/or State Filings experience from an admitted Property and Casualty Insurance carrier), strong leadership attributes, a background in law and/or math, and/or those with a CPCU designation are strongly encouraged to apply!
