A recent survey conducted by the online insurance agency, GetSure, has revealed that a significant number of Americans are hesitant about the idea of interacting with AI insurance agents. This finding sheds light on the sentiments of the nation, potentially comforting the country’s 1.6 million human insurance agents.

The survey delved into the opinions of 1,000 Americans regarding their comfort level when dealing with AI insurance agents. The findings were eye-opening: a mere 9% expressed that they were "very comfortable" with the concept, while a significant 70% voiced their discomfort. Interestingly, even the allure of potential discounts failed to change the sentiment drastically. 55% of the respondents said that they would still opt for a human agent even if it meant forgoing computerized discounts.

Delving deeper into the reasons for such reluctance, the survey identified the top three apprehensions that respondents had:

Inaccurate recommendations: 59% of respondents were worried that AI agents might not always provide the most accurate or suitable advice.

Job losses: Over half (53%) of those surveyed expressed concerns about AI leading to unemployment for human agents.

Misuse of personal data: 43% were wary about the potential for AI agents to misuse their personal information.

Yet, despite these reservations, there seems to be a begrudging acceptance of the inevitable role of AI in the future of the insurance industry. The survey found that a substantial 68% of participants anticipate that the majority of US insurance agents will be AI-driven within the next two decades.

In summary, while the infusion of AI into the insurance sector is seen by many as the inevitable future, there remains a strong hesitation among consumers about fully embracing this technological shift. The concerns range from doubts about the efficacy of AI recommendations to broader societal worries about job losses and data misuse. As the industry moves towards a more automated future, it is evident that maintaining trust and open dialogue with consumers will be crucial.
