Blizzard Causes Flooding On The Southern Jersey Shore

The southern end of the Jersey Shore, which was largely spared by Hurricane Sandy three years ago, had the most severe flooding in the state during the weekend blizzard, as high tides sent icy water rushing into darkened homes and businesses.
In Cape May County — the southern tip of the shore — tides as high as 10 feet flooded garages and ground floors. Some coastal residents who chose not to evacuate were stranded without power for more than 24 hours. The barrier islands to the north that were ravaged by Hurricane Sandy in late 2012 fared better than many had feared.
