Claims Denied, First Responders Unable To Return To Work

First responders are unable to return to work, because they cannot get their worker’s comp claims approved. Now, lawmakers are trying to change the law they say is responsible. Senator Kevin Matthews, a former firefighter, said law enforcement officers and firefighters take risks, and the new law is not protecting them. Since the law’s passing in 2013, worker’s comp attorneys said they have been representing dozens of clients who have not been able to return to work due to claim hang-ups. According to the law, if an insurance company thinks injuries were preventable, they can withhold funds.
