Fire destroys furniture store in Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Firefighters from at least seven departments responded to a large business fire in Prairie du Chien Sunday night. Nobody was hurt, but the fire at Black Hawk Junction destroyed Slumberland Furniture, and left smoke damage to a few other businesses. Prairie du Chien firefighters were able to start fighting the fire on the inside of the building, but later had to move to a defensive attack from the outside of the building. That’s partially because of the building’s arched roof.
