Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of southeast North Carolina, including the following counties, Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus and Pender and northeast South Carolina, including the following county, Horry. * WHEN...Until 500 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 300 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Overall, between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen, but a few isolated areas have recorded 1 to 2 inches of rain, particularly around the Nakina area in Columbus County. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
