Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.
* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of central and east central Virginia, including the following counties and independent city, in central Virginia, Chesterfield, City of Richmond and Henrico. In east central Virginia, Charles City and New Kent. * WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1100 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of around 0.5 inches are expected over the area during the next 90 minutes. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
